22 - Postcard from a Christmas card

This cute postcard came in one of my Christmas cards from MsBookish. She is a fellow blogger that I have gotten to know recently through Twitter. She likes books and postcards, so I was delighted she sent me a postcard with my card. So delighted that I might have bought the set because I enjoy them so much! Thanks Belle!

This postcard is unused.

16 - Postcards from California

My mother was recently in California and these are some of my favourite postcards she brought from there. I really want to go there sometime.

14 - Postcards from Las Vegas

My mother recently went to Nevada, well, Las Vegas really, and these were some of my favourite postcards that she brought back. I saved some for when I do Nevada for my Collecting the States feature, but I had to share these. I really like the rainbow shots, don't you? The third and second from the end are sparkly, but the scanner didn't really do that justice. I don't have a burning desire to go to Vegas, but I hope to go there one day!

10 - Postcard from Florida

This is not a 'Collecting the States' postcard. It is more 'I think it is cute and wanted to share'. I am not even entirely sure where it came from. It is not written on the back. It was just mixed in with all my recent arrivals. It kind of reminds me of my mother's cat Milo.

Unused Postcard.

8 - Postcards of Sailing Ships

Every year there is a big festival of sailing ships here. It is called the Tall Ship Festival. Some years the local newspaper includes some of the ships as postcards in their paper. These are some of the ones that have been offered over the years. I am sure there are more, but I don't actually get the newspaper anymore. Still, I enjoy the ones I have because I love sailing ships and all the history that surrounds them.

They are all unused.

Christmas Postcard - 6

When a friend of my grandmother heard that I collected postcards he gave me his collection. These are two of them. They are from a display in Iowa. The top one is called 'Santa's Stove' and the bottom one is called 'Blossom Time Planter'.

They are unused.

Christmas Postcard - 5

These postcards were contest winners for an Anime contest. I again have no idea where they came from, but they are also fun. They aren't postcards you can send anywhere, but they are still good quality pieces of paper. And, from the back I know I have had them since 2004 when this contest was held.

Christmas Postcard - 4

I have lots of postcards that I can't even remember where they come from. This is an ad for a book that on the back is addressed to Santa to make it easier to send your own letter to him. I think it is cute! I also can't remember if I ever sent a postcard of my own.

Christmas Postcard - 3

Another older Christmas postcard. This one doesn't have anything written on the back of it, but at some point it had a stamp because it is postmarked for 1912. There is also no address; so I am not sure the story behind it. Here is the back:

Christmas Postcard - 2

Here is another Christmas greeting in postcard form. It was never used, so no interesting story to share with it. Or stamp. It is 100 percent recycled, though. I wonder when that became important enough to mention on a postcard?

Welcome to The Postcard Project

I have been all about postcards in 2012, but I got to thinking that I receive them and then put them in storage boxes. It is kind of a waste... I want to share them with people! I wasn't sure what to do, though. I started a couple boards on Pinterest to showcase the ones I have sent and received from postcrossing.com; but I have been collecting postcards for years. I decided it would be fun to showcase some of my favourites, recent arrivals, historical ones, etc. I even hooked my scanner up so I don't have to take bad photographs anymore.

I thought I would start this post off with some of the Beatrix Potter ones my mother found for me. There are 110, but the ones I chose for today are just the ones that are covers of her famous books.

Aren't they great? I loved these books as a child and look forward to getting a second set to send to friends. I am sure I will share more at a later date.
