Collecting the States - 6 - Wisconsin

A postcard from Amanda. It is another state I needed to cross off my list. It kind of suits the stereotypes, huh? Dairy cows are a common sight up here, too. It just looks kind of peaceful. Here is the stamp:

Canadian Connection - 4 - Winnipeg

A Canadian postcard from another Canadian Amy. She lives on the west coast and I am determined to visit one of these days! She got in the spirit of things when I was collecting postcards like mad and sent one from Winnipeg. This is Forks Market. Here is the stamp:

17 - Postcard from Hawaii

This is a postcard from Hawaii from Jill. Thanks Jill! It will be a while before I get to Hawaii for my Collecting the States project, but I have a couple other postcards from that state to share when I get there. I am enjoying that people are going on trips and thinking of me!

Here is the stamp:

My mother was recently in California and these are some of my favourite postcards she brought from there. I really want to go there sometime.

15 - Postcard from Orlando, Florida

This is a postcard I received from Nicole from postcrossing.com. I have always wanted to make it to Florida... One day! With the snow on the ground at the moment it is tempting!!

Here are the stamps:

14 - Postcards from Las Vegas

My mother recently went to Nevada, well, Las Vegas really, and these were some of my favourite postcards that she brought back. I saved some for when I do Nevada for my Collecting the States feature, but I had to share these. I really like the rainbow shots, don't you? The third and second from the end are sparkly, but the scanner didn't really do that justice. I don't have a burning desire to go to Vegas, but I hope to go there one day!

Collecting the States - 3 - Minnesota

Memory went to Minnesota and she found me a postcard to cross another state of my list. This is an original piece of art for the Minnesota State Fair. It is their poster and then they make it into souvenirs  to share with other people. And, look at the fun stamps:

12 - Postcard from Germany

This postcard is from Germany. All I know is that it is by Jenny Boken. Unfortunately I don't read German well enough to know what the rest of the writing says. This postcard took 10 days to arrive and included this stamp:

11 - Postcard from Finland

This is a Christmas postcard from Finland. That text, according to the sender, says 'Peaceful Christmas'. The painting is by Rudolf Koivu and is a traditional Finnish Christmas card. They are remakes of the originals. The postcard took 13 days to arrive from Finland. I love this card! Here is the stamp:

9 - Postcard from Japan

Isn't this impressive? I got a message on Postcrossing from someone in Japan wanting to do a direct swap.  I said yes of course! I love the postcard she chose to share. I have some other postcards from Japan, but not a lot. It is a place I would love to visit one day. This is a gorgeous example of it, that's for sure! Here are the stamps:

8 - Postcards of Sailing Ships

Every year there is a big festival of sailing ships here. It is called the Tall Ship Festival. Some years the local newspaper includes some of the ships as postcards in their paper. These are some of the ones that have been offered over the years. I am sure there are more, but I don't actually get the newspaper anymore. Still, I enjoy the ones I have because I love sailing ships and all the history that surrounds them.

They are all unused.

Christmas Postcard - 6

When a friend of my grandmother heard that I collected postcards he gave me his collection. These are two of them. They are from a display in Iowa. The top one is called 'Santa's Stove' and the bottom one is called 'Blossom Time Planter'.

They are unused.

Christmas Postcard - 5

These postcards were contest winners for an Anime contest. I again have no idea where they came from, but they are also fun. They aren't postcards you can send anywhere, but they are still good quality pieces of paper. And, from the back I know I have had them since 2004 when this contest was held.

Christmas Postcard - 4

I have lots of postcards that I can't even remember where they come from. This is an ad for a book that on the back is addressed to Santa to make it easier to send your own letter to him. I think it is cute! I also can't remember if I ever sent a postcard of my own.

Christmas Postcard - 3

Another older Christmas postcard. This one doesn't have anything written on the back of it, but at some point it had a stamp because it is postmarked for 1912. There is also no address; so I am not sure the story behind it. Here is the back:

Christmas Postcard - 2

Here is another Christmas greeting in postcard form. It was never used, so no interesting story to share with it. Or stamp. It is 100 percent recycled, though. I wonder when that became important enough to mention on a postcard?

Christmas Postcard - 1

This is a Christmas card sent between two of my family members. It is still an impressive image all this time later. The interesting thing about it is that the postmark looks like it says "09" and it definitely is not 2009... I might be reading it wrong, though. Here is the back of the card:

7 - Postcard from Iceland

Postcard from Iceland! Christine went there and added to my collection. It is my very first postcard from Iceland. I love it! Iceland is a place I have always wanted to visit because it is so pretty. A wonderful addition to my collection.
