Christmas Postcard - 5

These postcards were contest winners for an Anime contest. I again have no idea where they came from, but they are also fun. They aren't postcards you can send anywhere, but they are still good quality pieces of paper. And, from the back I know I have had them since 2004 when this contest was held.

Christmas Postcard - 4

I have lots of postcards that I can't even remember where they come from. This is an ad for a book that on the back is addressed to Santa to make it easier to send your own letter to him. I think it is cute! I also can't remember if I ever sent a postcard of my own.

Christmas Postcard - 3

Another older Christmas postcard. This one doesn't have anything written on the back of it, but at some point it had a stamp because it is postmarked for 1912. There is also no address; so I am not sure the story behind it. Here is the back:

Christmas Postcard - 2

Here is another Christmas greeting in postcard form. It was never used, so no interesting story to share with it. Or stamp. It is 100 percent recycled, though. I wonder when that became important enough to mention on a postcard?

Christmas Postcard - 1

This is a Christmas card sent between two of my family members. It is still an impressive image all this time later. The interesting thing about it is that the postmark looks like it says "09" and it definitely is not 2009... I might be reading it wrong, though. Here is the back of the card:

Collecting the States - 2 - Delaware

One of my projects for 2012 was to collect a postcard from each of the 50 States of America. I am very close to completing this project! I thought I would count down and share what I have received/have from this project.

I emailed someone on Postcrossing to say I didn't have Delaware and she sent me a goodie pack of postcards. This is the collection she sent me from Delaware.

All of these postcards are unused, so no stamps this time.

Canadian Connection - 1 - Postcard from Victoria

I live in Canada so I can't help showcasing postcards from my province.
The above postcard came from the wonderful Memory. It is of the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC. This particular garden is known as The Sunken Garden and is one of 6 different gardens covering 50 acres. It looks like a beautiful place!

This is the stamp she included:

6 - Postcard from Dubai

My mother went to Dubai last year and this is the postcard she sent to me. She generally buys me some unused ones, but she also sends at least one used one from her travels. It doesn't actually elaborate on what this postcard is of, but I am thinking a hotel.

Here is a stamp from there:

Olden Days - 1 - Family Connection

This, lady and gents, is my great-grandfather. It is one of my favourite postcards because he looks so dapper. His son was a fire-fighter, too. It is technically unused, but it does have writing on the back explaining who the picture is taken of and where it was taken. I like that I have this memento.

Greeting card postcards are always fun. This is another postcard from Care. I like the trees and the butterflies. And the message helps, of course!

Collecting the States - 1 - New Mexico

One of my projects for 2012 was to collect a postcard from each of the 50 States of America. I am very close to completing this project! I thought I would count down and share what I have received/have from this project.
This is my postcard from New Mexico. It was sent through a direct swap on I messaged people that lived in the few states I still need and asked them if they would want a postcard from here in exchange for one from there.

Here are the stamps:

2 - Postcard from Russia

Isn't this postcard from Russia fantastic? I definitely want to visit here one of these days! This is The Red Square and a monument to K.M. Minin and Prince D.M. Pozharsky. This is my first postcard from Russia and it is wonderful! I was so impressed when I received it. It made me even more excited about what other treasures I will receive in the mail.

Here's the stamp:

1 - Postcard from the Netherlands

I received this postcard in December 2012 as part of It is from the Netherlands. It is my first postcard from the Netherlands. I have sent a few out so far, so they have a large group on postcrossing. I think this was a good start to my Netherlands collection, though. I look forward to more postcards from there.

Welcome to The Postcard Project

I have been all about postcards in 2012, but I got to thinking that I receive them and then put them in storage boxes. It is kind of a waste... I want to share them with people! I wasn't sure what to do, though. I started a couple boards on Pinterest to showcase the ones I have sent and received from; but I have been collecting postcards for years. I decided it would be fun to showcase some of my favourites, recent arrivals, historical ones, etc. I even hooked my scanner up so I don't have to take bad photographs anymore.

I thought I would start this post off with some of the Beatrix Potter ones my mother found for me. There are 110, but the ones I chose for today are just the ones that are covers of her famous books.

Aren't they great? I loved these books as a child and look forward to getting a second set to send to friends. I am sure I will share more at a later date.
